Match traceability depth to project risk

Traceability can begin with material heat and casting lot and continue through heat treatment, machining, finishing, inspection, packaging and final reports. The required depth should be defined before production so markings and record relationships are not added retrospectively.

Define in the RFQ

  • Heat-, lot- or piece-level traceability
  • Cast marking, laser identification or label format
  • Material certificates, inspection and test reports
  • Records for nonconformance, rework and release
  • Record-retention period and electronic format

Digital production support

ERP and MES functions can support order status, production progress, nonconformance traceability, equipment state, quality records and controlled work instructions. These systems connect the released process route with shop-floor execution; they do not replace the drawing or inspection plan.

Start with the drawing

Send the alloy, annual quantity and critical requirements.

Email is the fastest route for drawings and 3D files. The short form is available when email is inconvenient.

For the fastest drawing review, include:
  • 2D drawing / 3D file and revision
  • Material grade or service environment
  • Annual quantity or expected lot size
  • Critical tolerances, finish, inspection or pressure-test requirements
