Valve-body sourcing starts with the finished pressure boundary
Buyers often search for valve body castings, fully machined valve bodies, pressure-retaining bodies or a second source that can take the part from near-net casting through CNC machining and final verification. The critical issue is not the raw body alone; it is whether the seat, stem, bore, flange or thread relationships still meet the finished drawing after machining. In practice, the finished pressure boundary—not the raw casting—is the unit that has to be qualified.
Common purchasing priorities
- Pressure class, test pressure and allowable leakage
- Media, temperature and corrosion exposure
- Machined valve seats, stem bores, sealing faces, flange faces and threads
- Concentricity / position across seats, stems and connection features
- Wall transitions and machining depth near pressure boundaries
- NDT, material verification and heat-to-part traceability
- Passivation or other post-machining surface treatment when specified
Fully machined castings under one route
Casting, CNC machining, NDT and hydrostatic or pneumatic verification can be coordinated as one controlled route. This is useful when procurement wants one supplier responsible for the finished-to-print valve body rather than separate foundry and machine-shop POs.
Second source / alternate source
If the part is already in production, send the current drawing, annual demand, current lot / release size and the reason for re-sourcing. We can evaluate cost, lead time, capacity, quality controls and inspection requirements without changing the controlled drawing unless engineering approval is requested.
Start with the application
Provide pressure and temperature range, media, connection type, body material, seat/stem datum scheme, annual quantity and the required NDT and pressure/leak-test acceptance criteria.
