Sanitary & Food-Processing Components

Component-focused process review

Sanitary components need dimensional accuracy and a controlled product-contact surface at the same time. Cast geometry, machining stock, polishing access and any electropolishing allowance should therefore be reviewed together before production.

Common purchasing priorities

  • Product-contact versus non-product-contact surface definition
  • Alloy, corrosion and cleaning chemistry
  • Surface roughness and polish direction by zone
  • Internal radii, transitions and access for finishing
  • Passivation or electropolishing requirements
  • Material certificates and traceability when specified

Integrated supply

Investment casting, CNC machining, mechanical polishing, passivation or electropolishing and surface inspection can be coordinated to avoid conflicts between dimensional and sanitary requirements.

Start with the application

Identify the wetted surfaces, process media, cleaning or sterilization method, roughness target, polish/electropolish scope and any documentation required with the shipment.

Start with the drawing

Send the alloy, annual quantity and critical requirements.

Email is the fastest route for drawings and 3D files. The short form is available when email is inconvenient.

For the fastest drawing review, include:
  • 2D drawing / 3D file and revision
  • Material grade or service environment
  • Annual quantity or expected lot size
  • Critical tolerances, finish, inspection or pressure-test requirements
