Pneumatic actuation for VDV valves
Our pneumatic-actuator program covers packages for valve sizes approximately DN8–DN200, with an air-supply range of 2.5–8 bar depending on actuator size and duty. Both double-acting and spring-return arrangements are available. The actuator is sized from actual valve torque, supply pressure, required safety factor, cycle rate and fail position—not only from nominal valve size.
Single-acting versus double-acting
A double-acting actuator uses air for both opening and closing and is efficient where a defined fail position is not required. A spring-return actuator uses stored spring force for a fail-open or fail-closed action when air is lost. The spring package changes available torque, so minimum site air pressure must be stated when sizing.
Accessory packages
Typical automation accessories include solenoid valves, filter/regulator air preparation, open/closed limit-switch boxes and positioners. Control options include common 4–20 mA and 0–10 V positioner signals. Accessory voltage, enclosure rating, hazardous-area requirement and communication preference should be defined at quotation stage.
Package integration and verification
When supplied with a valve, the mounting bracket, stem coupling, travel stops and open/closed indication are checked as one assembly. Functional inspection can include stroke direction, fail action, air connections, switch feedback and positioner response where specified.
What to send for quotation
Provide the valve model/size, maximum differential pressure, available air pressure, fail-open/fail-closed/no-fail requirement, cycle rate, control signal, accessory voltage and environmental classification. For modulating service, include expected control frequency and positioning requirement.
