VDV butterfly-valve program

Our current VDV range covers concentric and offset-style butterfly-valve configurations for compact isolation and flow-control duties. Our program sizes extend from DN50 to DN1100 with PN10–PN16 pressure ranges and a temperature envelope of approximately -10 to +100 °C, depending on the body, seat, media and actuator package.

Body, seat and connection choices

Body and disc material routes include carbon steel, stainless steel and selected nickel-based alloys. Seat and liner choices can include EPDM, NBR, FKM/Viton and PTFE, selected against chemical compatibility, temperature, leakage requirement and cycling duty. Wafer and flanged connections cover common installation patterns.

Manual and automated operation

Manual lever operation is compact for smaller or infrequently cycled valves. Gear operators can reduce hand effort on larger sizes. Pneumatic, hydraulic and electric actuation can be integrated when the valve is part of a process-control system. For automation, specify normal position, fail action, cycle frequency, available air or electrical supply, open/closed feedback and any modulating requirement.

Application review

Butterfly valves are often selected for their low mass and short face-to-face envelope, but the final design still needs to reflect media velocity, solids, pressure differential and required shutoff performance. Disc and shaft geometry affect pressure drop, while liner choice affects torque and service life. For abrasive or solids-bearing media, tell us the particle characteristics and expected velocity rather than selecting only by line size.

What to send for quotation

Provide line size, pressure, temperature, media, connection standard, body/disc material, seat preference, shutoff requirement and actuation method. For replacements, include the existing face-to-face and flange standard. For OEM programs, branding, documentation and packaging can be reviewed through our Custom and White-label Valve Programs.
